SAND, SEA AND SOUL - A HISTORY OF THE BLACKPOOL SOUL SCENE

SAND, SEA AND SOUL - A HISTORY OF THE BLACKPOOL SOUL SCENE

A must have book, written by Iain McCartney, with the foreword by Richard Searling.

This book charts the history of the Soul and Northern Soul scene in and around Blackpool. This is a 'warts and all' book that does give the highs and lows over the years. There is comprehensive coverage of the famous 'Highland Room' at the Blackpool Mecca, showing how the scene evolved from there. There are photographs included that show the demolition of the building in 2009. Truly the end of an era.

We eventually work our way up to 2006, the year that 'Togetherness' was launched at the Blackpool Tower, that along with the International Soul Weekenders at the Winter Gardens are keeping Blackpool at the forefront of Soul life today.

Cost £15, inc. post for UK customers only.
